After years of freaky electro-funk, Of Montreal opted for a more organic, live-band approach when recording their latest album, Lousy with Sylvianbriar. We've now got another taste of this new sound via the song "Belle Glade Missionaries."
The track bears a trace of the band's signature weirdness, but it's far more rootsy. It sports a toe-tapping swing rhythm, bluesy guitar licks and whirling organ. The six-minute track is capped off with the psych-tinged instrumental jam.
Interestingly, press materials no longer refer to Lousy with Sylvianbriar in all lower-case. It's available to pre-order here in limited edition "sea glass green" vinyl. It out through Polyvinyl on October 8.
