Old 97's

Live

BY David McPhersonPublished Mar 1, 2005

These Texas troubadours are best experienced live due to their reckless roots-rock abandon and endless punk energy. During 2004's Drag it Up sessions, the band ended up with a gig at Hollywood's infamous Troubadour club. The disc captures that sweat-soaked showcase. The set list features the best of the new and the old. From the rockabilly "Won't Be Home" of their latest disc to the three barn-storming closers from the band's early cow-punk days ("Doreen," "Big Brown Eyes," and "Time Bomb"), the Old 97's live is sure to satiate any fan as they wait for these talented twangers to return to his/her town.
