Orange Island

Everything You Thought You Knew

BY Stuart GreenPublished Apr 1, 2002

There's something undeniably infectious and refreshingly unpretentious about the full-length follow up to this New England quartet's debut EP. With songs that capture the anger and frustration of life in small town America, and the ills of addiction — most notably alcoholism — Orange Island's music is equal parts melodic post-punk chug and therapeutic catharsis. Lots of bands know how to strap on guitars and rock out, but few know how to do it well and say something at the same time. These guys do.
