The Original Mark Edwards

As great as the story sounds on paper, with pots, pans and experimentation replacing common instruments, something about these tacky cuts isn’t very interesting but that’s only because the bar is set high just from reading this innovative feller’s bio. A founding member of the Domo Sound, Mark Edwards knows how to manipulate technology and this being his sophomore solo effort, he’s reaching for the stars. Some cuts string along acoustic chords with looping whispers, never getting anywhere productive ("Wax on Hats”), while others jump right out of the speakers with melodies so bright and adorable that you’ll want to play Twister! Hear the roaring synth raunch in "Prehistoric Visions [Of Flying Cars]” or the post-rock ambiance of "Cool as the Colour” and you’d be inclined to compare Edwards to Brain Wilson and Yo La Tengo (in the same breath) and perhaps refer to him as a "dynamic songwriter.” However, hear the boring drag of "Mystery” or the many cheese-infested lyrics and you may be forced to think twice.
