The wave of coronavirus cancellations continues, and now Montreal mega-festival Osheaga has become the latest event to be affected.
Promoters evenko have announced the postponement of Osheaga, along with the electronic-focused îleSoniq and the inaugural edition of the country-leaning Lasso Montreal.
In a press release, evenko announced that they are complying with the government's request to suspend all events throughout Quebec until August 31. Osheaga had been scheduled to take place from July 31 to August 2.
Osheaga hasn't been formally cancelled, nor has it been rescheduled just yet. According to evenko, "The company continues to reflect on the options available for each event that were planned until this date."
The company's CEO, Jacques Aubé, said in a statement:
We are truly saddened by this situation, but everyone's health must remain our top priority. It is too early to specifically announce the status of each of our events. We want to take the time to properly think about each of them and evaluate our options. Of course, we will do everything we can in order to minimize the impacts of this decision on all parties involved, by trying to postpone events, when possible.
Osheaga 2020 was set to feature headliners Foo Fighters, Lizzo and Kendrick Lamar alongside undercard acts Vampire Weekend, Leon Bridges, Bon Iver, Brockhampton, Kraftwerk, French Montana, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Jessie Reyez, Brittany Howard, July Talk, Clairo, TNGHT, Yaeji, Charli XCX, Caribou, Dave, Burna Boy, Charlotte Day Wilson, Haviah Mighty, Orville Peck, Phoebe Bridgers and more.
