Montreal post-punk trio Cola — featuring former members of Ought — have released "Water Table," a new single from their forthcoming debut album Deep in View, out May 20 via Next Door Records.
"It was the last song I wrote for the record at a moment when we were pretty sure what would end up on the record," bassist Ben Stidworthy said in a press release, adding, "I felt like the record needed the emotional note of a song like 'Water Table' and the track flowed out of me. Tim sent it back to me with lyrics the next day so I knew it was gonna work."
"Water Table" follows previously released singles "Blank Curtain" and "So Excited."
The forthcoming album is said to orbit a central theme of "passion," exploring "what happens to a person when they find themselves increasingly encountering a passionless landscape of consumption."
The group have lined up several tour dates this summer through the US and UK. Canadian dates come on July 11 at Vancouver's Biltmore and July 23 at Toronto's Baby G.
