Following a couple independent EP releases, Montreal outfit Ought are taking things to the next level by inking up with the esteemed Constellation imprint for their full-length debut.
The signing was confirmed today (January 29) by the label, who added that an album will arrive sometime in April. Though the details beyond that are slim at present, a press release teases that the set should highlight the post-punk-flavoured group's "propulsive and fluid energy," including vocalist Tim Beeler's "ragged and impassioned yelp." Sonic touchstones include Cap'n Jazz and Talking Heads.
Since forming in 2011, Ought have issued two EPs, which are both up for sale on their Bandcamp page. Most recent is last summer's More Than Any Other Day. A note from the group on Bandcamp explains that the five-song set is being expanded into a full-length release for spring 2014, but it's unclear if all of the tracks will appear on the forthcoming album.
Along with the signing announcement, Constellation is streaming the EP's "Waiting," which the label refers to as "an extra track recorded during their recent studio sessions."
