If past instances were anything to go by, you could forgive us for being just a little skeptical when the less outrageous half of Atlanta hip-hop boundary-pushers, Outkast, reiterated that a new Outkast LP, plus a solo venture each from Big Boi and Andre 3000, was due in 2010. However, it looks as if Big Boi might be sticking to his word, or at least partly.
As Billboard reports, Big Boi's long-awaited, oft-delayed solo album Sir Lucious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty will finally drop on July 6, courtesy of Def Jam Records.
A first single from the album, the Scott Storch-produced "Shutterbug," has already been released, but Big Boi recently played a show at New York City's Electric Lady studio during which he showcased a couple more of the album's tracks, including "Turns Me On," produced by Organized Noize and featuring Sleepy Brown; "Tangerine," featuring T.I. with tambourines and guitars; and the Lil Jon-produced, Jamie Foxx-aided "Hustle Blood," which Big Boi describes as a track "for the ladies."
Big Boi continues to claim that an official Outkast album and Andre 3000 solo effort will be out this year, but there's no official word on either.
