The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

"Hell" (video)

Sensitive indie pop outfit the Pains of Being Pure at Heart didn't release an album in 2015, but they did issue the short EP Hell. Now, to cap off the year, Kip Berman and company have shared a video for title cut "Hell."

The clip for this infectious, Orange Juice-flavoured funk-pop anthem was shot on 16mm film by Sarah Halpern. The black and white visuals have a distinctly retro flair, and we see Berman and his buddies playing instruments and posing for the camera. The frontman is glammed out with raccoon-style eyeshadow, a bouquet of flowers and silvery tinsel scarf; he seems to be going for a David Bowie or Lou Reed look, although he more closely resembles Perry Farrell here.
