Passion Pit Announce Sophomore Album

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 24, 2012

Passion Pit fans have been dancing to the electro pop unit's debut album Manners for three years now, but we'll have more tunes from the act this summer after they issue their sophomore set, Gossamer.

Via a post on the group's website, the Cambridge, MA act announced that they will drop the new disc on July 24 via Columbia Records.

A tracklisting has yet to appear, but Gossamer will allegedly feature 12 new songs tracked at Manhattan's Gigantic Studios. Chris Zane, who produced Manners, was brought back by the band to man the mixing boards.

According to Pitchfork, who were invited out to the studio last month for a four-song listening party, the record contains Passion Pit's patented "squiggly, jam-packed pop" ("Twitch" and "Love Is Greed"), some Warp Records-style glitch ("I'll Be Alright") and smoothed-out R&B ("Constant Conversations").

Passion Pit will also be out on the road this summer, playing out across the U.S., and stopping at Montreal's Osheaga festival on August 5. You can catch the rest of the dates down below.
