Beastly instrumental outfit Pelican have announced that their recent shift from long-time home Hydra Head Records, which has been issuing the band's music since 2001, over to Southern Lord is about to be consummated with the release of a new EP.

The effort has been dubbed Ephemeral and is due out June 6. Responsibilities for the album have been split between Southern Lord and the band's Migration Media label. The Lord will handle the vinyl and MP3 versions of Ephemeral, while Migration Media will press/release the CD. In regards to that, the band have stated the following plans for Ephemeral on CD:

"We're pressing up 1,000 copies, all of which will be packaged in custom designed and printed sleeves by our buddies Delicious Design League, the folks responsible for the screen-printed Australasia limited edition that came out, among a million other things they've done for us. The CD will only be available from us on tour for the time being. There will be a special edition of 50 for our Japan show as well."

Once Ephemeral is off the ground, Pelican's next endeavours are a split seven-inch with Young Widows and a Champions of Sound double seven-inch that will feature exclusive songs from the band, Kayo Dot, Zozobra and Stove Bredsky.
