Following a 2010 tour cycle that found his new band, the Light, performing Unknown Pleasures in concert, former Joy Division bassist Peter Hook is ready to revisit the past again with a new trip celebrating his old band's second album, Closer.
Hook's upcoming concerts will find him and his Light cohorts tackling the sophomore set in full. Interestingly, the tour schedule, which hits up Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre and Montreal's Club Soda this fall, will actually have the act alternating between Unknown Pleasures and Closer. For the record, Canadian fans will be treated to the former. Check out the details below.
The bassist's trip down memory lane hasn't been without its share of controversies. Last year's performances began on the 30th anniversary of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis's suicide, while a newly recorded EP of four of the legendary post-punk act's songs, including the unreleased "Pictures in My Mind," drew ire from many fans, calling each move a cash grab. Hook's bandmate in his other current project, Freebass, went so far to accuse Hook of collecting "Ian Curtis blood money."
