After wowing us with sounds both bigger and more imposing in Ottawa earlier this year, Petra Glynt (a.k.a. Alexandra Mackenzie) has lifted the curtain on her debut full-length.
Titled This Trip, the LP will arrive October 22 through Vibe Over Method. The record was recorded and self-produced by Mackenzie in her Montreal apartment, with Grammy-nominated producer Damian Taylor (Björk, the Prodigy, Arcade Fire) handling mixing duties.
The announcement comes alongside a brightly coloured video for the album's second track "Fell in a Hole," which was co-directed by Mackenzie and Lesley Marshall. Mackenzie had this to say about the clip:
The video is meant to show who is responsible for the over-extraction of natural resources — the corporation. I play a narcissistic CEO not too dissimilar from the president of the United States and her staff of equally narcissistic and greedy office workers. Together we perform redundant office tasks while the world burns on the news broadcast. The video is essentially showing the insanity of corporate interest as tied to the fate of the planet. We shot this video in my apartment in Montreal with no budget. I feel so fortunate to have worked with such a wonderful cast and crew of femme-identifying magical people.
