Noise artist Pharmakon (a.k.a. Margaret Chardiet) has announced she'll be taking the brilliantly disturbed sounds of her body horror masterpiece Bestial Burden on a North American club tour early next year.
The New York native still has a pair of performances left to go in 2014, including an appearance at Montreal's La Vitrola on Friday (December 12). A press release confirms, however, that a 24-show stretch of dates starts up mid-January. Throughout the tour, she'll make it onto Canadian stages in Quebec City, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver.
You'll find all of the specifics in the itinerary down below.
On top of unveiling the tour schedule, Chardiet has also brought a short film behind Bestial Burden online. The piece, a collaboration between Pharmakon and artist Nina Hartmann, had previously been made available as a DVD packaged in mail-order copies of the LP, but the pair have now delivered the film for all to see.
Tied to the themes of Bestial Burden, which was inspired by a medical emergency of Chardiet's that led to the removal of a body organ, the film is described by the pair as "documentation of three happenings that took place at an undisclosed location in Providence, RI, August 2014." This includes live footage and an arty surgery scene stripping a body of its internal mechanics. It gets a little messy at times and could be defined as NSFW.
"The actions aim to break through barriers of live and recorded performance, into the immediate reality," the pair continue. "The video extends the music and aesthetics of the album into their visceral forms, and serves as the bodily/visual pairing to coincide with the record, Bestial Burden."
