Pharmakon Returns with 'Contact'

This year marks the 10 year anniversary of Margaret Chardiet's Pharmakon project, and in celebrating the milestone, the experimental noise artist has announced a new album titled Contact will arrive this March through Sacred Bones.

The follow-up to 2014's Bestial BurdenContact comes after Chardiet found herself reevaluating the project and its mission of discovering what it means to be human. Where the former record looked at what she calls "the disconnect between mind and body," Contact will explore "the moments when our mind can come outside of and transcend our bodies."

Chardiet began studying trance states alongside the nature of her own live performances, leading her to structure each side of the six-track LP after the four stages of trance: preparation, onset, climax and resolution.

"We are each nothing but a single, short-lived cell in a vast organism which itself will one day die," she said in a statement. "If we accept that the only true claim sentience gives us is our tiny sliver of time, it opens us to revel in it, to make CONTACT."

Contact will arrive on March 31 through Sacred Bones. Chardiet also released an LP with garage combo Cheena last year. Read through the tracklisting to hear first single "Transmission" in the player below.
