Phil Spector Unveils Philles Box Set

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 10, 2011

As questionable as producer/prison inmate Phil Spector's life has been the last several years, you can't deny the indelible impact he's had on pop music. A new box set featuring a handful of albums released on the artist's Philles label between 1962 and 1964 aims to further pay tribute to Spector and his revolutionary Wall of Sound production style.

Phil Spector Presents the Philles Collection gathers three albums by R&B sweethearts the Crystals ("Da Doo Ron Ron," "Then He Kissed Me"), as well as the Ronettes Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica, which features "Be My Baby" and its oft-replicated beat. Another disc highlight is Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans, as well as a compilation disc featuring the above artists and more. Plus there is a bonus disc of instrumental B-sides. You can check out the mammoth tracklisting below.

Phil Spector Presents the Philles Collection comes out October 18 on Phil Spector Records /Legacy.
