Almost a year since we first learned of the upcoming Philip Glass remix album, a track from the collection has hit the web. It's a new version of "Rubric," which comes courtesy of former Battles member Tyondai Braxton.
While Phillip Glass' original -- which appeared on his 1982 album Glassworks -- favoured densely blaring horns, Braxton turns the song into a chopped up electro freakout. Despite the change in instrumentation, it's not really a huge departure from the original, since both featuring dizzying, spiralling melodies.
Rework: Philip Glass Remixed will arrive on October 23 through Orange Mountain Music/Ernest Jenning/The Kora Records. It is being released in celebration of the composer's 75th birthday, which took place earlier this year.
