Former Pantera vocalist Philip H. Anselmo is set to deliver his solo LP Walk Through Exits Only on July 16 through his own Housecore Records, but you can feel his rage a couple of months early via a stream of album track "Usurper's Bastard Rant."
Backed by the bludgeoning chug of his band the Illegals, the gruff metal god simultaneously sounds off on imitators in the industry as he "destroys tradition." There's an intensely conceptual, speaker-panning two-guitar noise solo to throw you off in the middle of the piece, but the crew get back to wreckin' you for the furious finale.
"It's time for more destruction, and this is exactly the point of 'Usurper Bastard's Rant,'" Anselmo explained of the cut to Rolling Stone.
