Pianos Become the Teeth

Old Pride

BY Sam SutherlandPublished Feb 20, 2010

Like some ghost of the classic Deep Elm roster, Pianos Become The Teeth have pulled together an electrifying collection of influences in creating Old Pride, an earnest recreation of classic '90s screamo in the vein of Saetia and Orchid. While there's a hint of Midwestern emo in some of the structure and guitar/bass interplay, things crash together with all the epic power and trachea-tearing sonics of pg. 99 and the City of Caterpillar. And while the band obviously wear their influences on their sleeve, songs develop at their own pace, giving Pianos Become The Teeth a chance to flesh out their sonic fingerprint amongst a crowded field of legendary artists.
