Following 2017's Distance album, Pick a Piper is emerging with some new material. It's a song called "Sentience," which arrives via some tripped-out visuals.

After years of travelling the world as the drummer of Caribou, Pick a Piper's Brad Weber has begun to focus on what's close at hand, delving deep into his inner space for his latest work.

"I've been connecting more locally," Weber explained in a statement, "exploring the inner workings of Toronto, collaborating with new people and finding inspiration in everyday things. It helped me slow things down and look to create vast, sometimes otherworldly soundscapes."

This has resulted in his new Pick a Piper single "Sentience," which features fellow Toronto artist Sophia Alexandra on vocals.

"Sophia has a history in theatre and is currently collaborating with various musicians and producers in Toronto," Weber said. "Her voice has a unique warmth and old timey quality that I find very engaging. I hope this song evokes a sense of optimism in an increasingly fragmented world."

You can check out "Sentience" for yourself below. The video was created by Toronto musician/videographer Dani Ramez.

The track is out now via Tin Angel Records, and along with it, Pick a Piper has unveiled a few dates in the U.K. and Europe. You'll find those stops below.

Tour dates:

08/01 London, UK - Shacklewell Arms
08/03 Glasgow, UK - The Blue Arrow
08/10 Castelbuono, Italy - Ypsigrock
