Pig Destroyer return with their fifth LP — and first in five years — on October 22 via Relapse Records, but you can give it a listen before it hits shelves.
After a fair bit of time and a lineup change, the Virginia-based grind heroes are bursting full-speed back into the music with Book Burner. Guitarist Scott Hull previously said that new drummer Adam Jarvis "has helped breathe new life into the band, and we feel like we are starting fresh."
A recent press release describes the new LP as a "32-minute, 19-song knockout punch of cerebral viciousness." Featuring guitars that sound like "Slayer and the Melvins jacked up on amphetamines," "inhuman drumming," and layers of "suffocating atmosphere," all topped off with "poet laureate of extreme metal" JR Hayes, Book Burner is not a record to be messed with.
