Pig Destroyer Treat 'Mass & Volume' to Physical Release

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 21, 2014

After previously existing as a digital-only release, grind crew Pig Destroyer are now set to give their 2013 EP Mass & Volume a physical release via longtime label home Relapse Records.

CD and LP versions of the mini-set, described in a press release as showcasing "two epic songs of crushing, misanthropic doom," hits North America on October 14, a day earlier in the UK and on October 10 in Germany. As previously reported, the EP contains the 19-minute epic "Mass" and "Volume," with both songs having been recorded during the same sessions as the band's 2007 LP Phantom Limb.

The songs had originally been issued digitally as a benefit EP for the family of Relapse director of retail sales Pat Egan, who passed away in 2013. Proceeds went towards a college fund of Egan's daughter, Katie.

The upcoming vinyl pressing arrives in a few different colour variations, with the most common being a kelly green slab of vinyl. Additionally, 300 are being pressed on "doublemint/swamp green merge with white, kelly green and coke bottle green splatter," and 100 are coming out on clear vinyl.

The band also let loose a trailer that features some gloomy samples of the set. You can give that a peep down below.
