Autumn of the Seraphs

BY Josiah HughesPublished Sep 11, 2007

The work of Zach Smith and Rob Crow needs little introduction. Autumn of the Seraphs, their first record as Pinback since 2004’s Summer in Abaddon, is the third Rob Crow full-length to be released in 2007, following his solo record and release with Other Men, and Zach Smith’s Three Mile Pilot also has a record in the works for later this year. Amazingly, Autumn of the Seraphs stands up with their best work. Tracks like "Barnes” and "Blue Harvest” make the most of their off-kilter melodies, while "Walters” and "Off By 50” work with a slower build. Ultimately, Autumn of the Seraphs further proves the enduring creativity of these two songwriters.
