A Place to Bury Strangers Unveil 'Worship' LP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Apr 2, 2012

Back in February, A Place to Bury Strangers made their Dead Oceans debut with the EP Onwards to the Well. Now, the New York noiseniks have announced plans to release their first full-length with the label. Entitled Worship, it will be out on June 26.

The album reportedly blends Krautrock, dream pop and gothic influences with the band's usual assault of distorted guitars, resulting in an 11-song collection that's "explosive, visceral, and dark."

In a statement, bassist Dion Lunadon said this of the self-produced collection: "Every sound on the album is made by us and our tools; tools created by us, used on no other recordings, and purposefully built for this project. This is real. Some of it is the band being in complete control -- bending, shaping and building the songs and the sounds. Other parts are the band relinquishing control and letting the songs and sounds take over and produce themselves. We are not trying to reinvent ourselves, but simply push ourselves further in all aspects of our music."

For a taste of what the band have cooked up, check out the creepy single "You Are the One" at the bottom of the page.
