Canadian customs officials have denied Polish black metal dudes Behemoth access into our country, according to a press release. The band were coming to the Great White North to join up with the Summer Slaughter Tour, a huge metal package featuring heavyweights such as German ultra-tech death shredders Necrophagist and New York old-school death dealers Suffocation. Now, some of the shows will go on without Behemoth.
Unfortunately for the band, changes were made in regulations regarding Polish citizens entering Canada while the group were on their way over here. Because of the Canada Day and the Fourth of July holidays, Behemoth had no way to get the last-minute paperwork they needed to enter Canada, so back home they went. This is bad news for Canuck black metal fiends, as Behemoth will miss the first two Canadian dates of the tour, in Edmonton yesterday and Calgary tonight.
"We couldn't be more devastated, having to cancel these shows is one of the worst things we have had to do as a band," Behemoth said in the press release. "Canada has always treated Behemoth well and we were still fired up from our show in Montreal [July 16] and Toronto [July 15]. We can't wait to get back to these cities as soon as possible."
They added that they will meet back up with the tour in Spokane on July 7. As well, North American fans can look forward to the band returning for the Rockstar Mayhem Tour in the U.S. and a November North American Behemoth tour.
