After quite a delay, Les Savy Fav played around 2 a.m. to a rabid audience that was basically frothing at the mouth, but maybe that was just beer foam. Either way, Les Savy Fav can rest easy knowing that they played one of the best shows of this year's festival. The set was heavy on new stuff, which might have disappointed a few fans of the early catalogue, but the weird-rock mischief-makers are so revered that it's almost impossible for them to do wrong. Tim Harrington, the mammoth lead singer who is notorious for his wild stage antics, kicked off the show with a cover of Silver Jews' "Punks in the Beerlight," which launched the crowd into a chaotic frenzy. Then he spewed beer, hung the mic on the rafters and swung from it while the show-goers moshed and crowd-surfed. Excellent? That goes without saying.
