This is quite a simple cover, done straight in the manner you’d expect Mac MacCaughan to work in with an acoustic guitar. Basically stripping Hot Chip’s glammy synth pop of its electro oomph, the focus is all on the glorious melody that remains. His voice is built for a song like this, laying down double vocals that together converge to match those of Joe Goddard and Alexis Taylor. Mac even throws in some dazzle towards its conclusion, introducing an effects-laden electric with magical results, and then easing into the close with a whisper of the chorus.
