Night owls and music fans alike were treated to a Portishead performing "Chase the Tear" on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon yesterday (October 5), but don't worry if you missed the TV appearance, the band will soon be issuing the song on a new twelve-inch single. While the outfit issued the single back in 2009, this will be its first appearance on wax.
The platter will be released worldwide via XL on November 14, but New York residents will be able to grab a copy a little earlier. Two hundred signed copies of the single, which features the original on the A-side and a cover of the tune by Toronto's Doldrums on the flip, will be up for sale at the XL Recordings stall at the Independent Label Market in New York on October 8.
The press sheet also hints at the vinyl release being available at the merch table during the group's current North American tour.
"Chase the Tear" was originally issued as a charity single for Amnesty International, and all proceeds from the new recording will also go to the organization.
Down below, you can watch that performance on Fallon, where they played "Chase the Tear," as well as the web exclusive "Mysterons."
