Andrew Weatherall, the beloved British producer best known for his work on Primal Scream's Screamadelica, has passed away at the age of 56 after suffering a pulmonary embolism.
"We are deeply sorry to announce that Andrew Weatherall, the noted DJ and musician passed away in the early hours of this morning, Monday 17th February 2020, at Whipps Cross Hospital, London," his management said in a statement. "The cause of death was a pulmonary embolism. He was being treated in hospital but unfortunately the blood clot reached his heart. His death was swift and peaceful."
In addition to Primal Scream, Weatherall worked with artists as diverse as Beth Orton, One Dove, Twilight Sad and Fuck Buttons. He also remixed work from Björk, the Orb, New Order, Manic Street Preachers, My Bloody Valentine, James and many others.
As if that weren't enough, he also led a busy solo career. His most recent album, Qualia, was released in 2017.
