With the release of their highly anticipated third album just weeks away, the no-longer-quite-Kingston duo P.S. I Love You (guitarist/vocalist Paul Saulnier left his hometown following 2012's Death Dreams) certainly took the riskier road at NXNE by opting to showcase new material. Judging by the reception from the audience, that risk paid off in spades.

There was still room for the occasional older favourite like "Sentimental Dishes" in Saulnier and drummer Benjamin Nelson's set, but their fans seemed more than happy to shake along to songs from the upcoming For Those Who Stay (the bittersweet, anthemic "Friends Forever" was a highlight) and have their faces melted by Saulnier's growing arsenal of guitar heroics that added virtuosic two-hand tapping to long, evocative solos worthy of Mascis, Verlaine or Lloyd.
