Seattle's Bruno Pronsato and Ninca Leece, the couple that together form the aptly named Public Lover, followed Alex Smoke's more experimental set, lightening the mood with their brand of classic house. The duo got the crowd moving with Leece performing live vocals and playing keyboards while Pronsato provided the beats, including organic sounding funky basslines and hi-hats. With the house full for the last night of the festival, Public Lover's warm, summery, uncomplicated grooves -- reminiscent at times of early Herbert -- were the perfect end to the daytime Piknic event closed by Wolf + Lamb and set the stage nicely for Dave Aju to take us to the finish line. A great end to another great and incredibly diverse MUTEK.
