They may be 28 years into their career, but pop punk titans the Queers are every bit as vital and hardworking as their much younger peers. The long-running New Hampshire trio have been through their share of ups and downs, but this month they'll return to their roots with a new full-length, aptly titled Back to the Basement.
The album was announced via a MySpace blog from the band, where frontman Joe Queer explained, "We kind of veered back to the Love Songs for the Retarded-style of songwriting and [it] was a blast recording, kind of feels like the old Queers again. I like the poppy stuff, but time to go back to what we love."
Back to the Basement will be released by Asian Man Records on November 16. The label is also gearing up to reissue the Queers' entire back catalogue on vinyl, so it's a good time to be a Queers fan.
In addition to the new releases, the Queers have embarked upon an unspeakably large world tour running from now until February. The string of shows includes dates pretty much everywhere, including Canadian stops in Vancouver, Quebec City, Toronto, Ottawa, London and a stop in Montreal on May 21. These guys know how to plan ahead!
