Hip-hop head Ahmir Khalib Thompson, better known as Questlove, is already well known as the drummer and band leader for the beloved and legendary group the Roots. Soon, however, he'll add another Roots to his resume with news that he's been hired as the music producer for a new television miniseries.

A+E is currently prepping a televised adaptation of Alex Haley's 1976 novel Roots, which follows the life of the African-born Kunta Kinte as he's sold into the American slave trade. The book was previously adapted for television in 1977.

Questlove is on board to create new music and sounds for the show. As Variety reports, he'll create themes for the show's characters, and offer up an authentic African sound.

Roots will air in 2016 as four two-hour episodes.
