A Tribe Called Quest’s Abstract Poetic, Q-Tip, has leaked word on his future producer, and no it’s not Timbaland. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, the MC has revealed he will soon be working with none other than Nigel Godrich. Yes, Nigel Godrich, the British producer and Radiohead’s "sixth member,” who’s known for working on brooding, downbeat albums from everyone from Beck to Air to Pavement. However, up until now hip-hop has never really been included on his CV.

"He’s a big fan of rap,” Q-Tip told the Times of the producer. "It’ll be cool working with him. We’re going to make a film out of the project too.”

The future, yet-to-be-titled Q-Tip/Godrich album will be the follow-up to The Renaissance, which after several delays is scheduled to be released on Universal Motown in July and will be the rapper’s first commercial release since 1999’s Amplified. The Renaissance will feature other guest appearances by Norah Jones, D’Angelo and Raphael Saadiq, as well as a vocal contribution by, um, Barack Obama.

When further speaking to the Times about Godrich, Q-Tip added: "He’s just on some real hip-hop. It’s gonna be a lot of sampling. He’s really dope!” Yes, perhaps Godrich is, as Q-Tip so eloquently puts it, dope.
