More than 150 bands will be playing this year's Amnesia Rockfest (formerly known as the D-Tox Rockfest), and organizers for the annual Montebello, QC event have just revealed the first confirmed act: Bay Area punk vets Rancid.
A press release confirms that the fest, which takes place June 14 to 15 at the Montebello marina, has locked down a performance from the quartet, marking the group's first Canadian performance in four years.
While Rancid haven't released an LP since 2009's Let the Dominoes Fall, the band did serve up new song "Fuck You" last year on the Oi! This Is Street Punk, Volume Two compilation, and they also recently issued their monstrous 7-inch box set.
While details have yet to arrive for the rest of the roster, the eighth annual Amnesia Rockfest will feature acts spread out between five stages, including two new stages focusing on "rarities/cult favorites of punk and hardcore."
"We can't wait to announce our 2013 lineup and many other surprises," festival president/founder Alex Martel said in a statement.
The full festival lineup is expected to be announced in mid-March.
