Refused's Dennis Lyxzén Guests on New Bloody Beetroots EP

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Nov 14, 2011

The last time we heard from former Refused vocalist Dennis Lyxzén he was screaming it up with his new hardcore band AC4. Fast-forward a year later, and dude's still running his vocal cords ragged, but this time he's delivering some new noise with masked Italian electro outfit the Bloody Beetroots.

Lyxzén hooked up with the screaming synth suppliers last year for their "Church of Noise" tour, but if you missed out on the gigs, you can check out the collab via the outfit's new EP of the same name. The title cut, which you can check out below, is full of deep beats, a dreamy yet driving bass line, ethereal synth squeals and the vocalist's feral wail. Could this be the true shape of punk to come?

Not much is known about the EP save for the fact that it drops tomorrow (November 15). A manifesto written by the Beetroots' Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo and the politically minded Lyxzén explains that the Church of Noise, whether it be the song, the EP or a state of mind, is, among other things, "an uprising against the state of boredom." You can check out the full statement here.
