Rich Aucoin's upcoming Public Publication LP isn't due out until early next year, but fans of the Halifax-based indie electro party starter will be able to get a sneak peek of the album in the form of an EP coming out in August.
The EP, also called Public Publication, is set to drop on August 17 through Sonic Entertainment and will give a taste of what lofty ambitions the LP contains. The goal of the album is to contain as much of Canada as possible, according to a press release. To do this, Aucoin spent over two years working with more than 500 musicians from St. John's to Victoria, BC (and up to Dawson City, Yukon, too).
Recording in everything from pro studios to bedrooms and including big-name Canadian musicians, as well as fans with no musical training, it sounds as if Public Publication is going to be quite the little slice of Canadiana. A track listing for the EP is below.
Public Publication is Aucoin's first commercially available work and is a follow-up to 2007's Personal Publication. Can't wait until August 17 to hear the new material? Head here to check out a stream of the EP (and download the EP track "Push").
Aucoin will be touring Canada before and after the EP is released in preparation of the full-length's release, sharing the stage with biggies like Of Montreal, Wintersleep and Hot Hot Heat. Full dates are below.
