Righteous Boy

On his solo debut as Righteous Boy, Cardigans bassist Magnus Sveningsson maintains the melancholy mood of Gran Turismo and band-mate Nina Persson’s A Camp project. For a Swedish chap, Sveningsson sounds remarkably like I’m Your Man-era Leonard Cohen, whether accompanied by the orchestral swoon of "I Made It Hard for You to Love Me” or backed by the hazy rock of "Elephant Man.” I Sing Because of You is a stunning debut in its own right and further proof that the Cardigans aren’t all sunbeams and carnivals.
