In some tragic news, Beau Velasco, a founding member and guitarist of Baltimore-via-Brooklyn-via-Australia dance punk crew the Death Set, has died.
So far, very little information is available about Velasco's passing, save for a tweet posted last night on band's official Twitter. "R.I.P. my dear brother, friend and band mate Beau Velasco. For all those who wish to pay their respects I will let know soon," the band wrote.
Velasco formed the group with front-man Johnny Sierra when both were living in Australia. Inspired by a Japanther show that came through their town, they formed the Death Set and moved to the U.S. Their second album, last year's Worldwide, was released to critical acclaim.
Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
