Cynthia Lennon, the woman known to many music fans as the first wife of Beatles legend John Lennon, has died at the age of 75.
She was the mother of Lennon's first son, Julian. An announcement posted today (April 1) on JulianLennon.com says the following:
Cynthia Lennon passed away today at her home in Mallorca, Spain following a short but brave battle with cancer.
Her son Julian Lennon was at her bedside throughout. The family are thankful for your prayers.

Born Cynthia Powell in 1939, she married John in 1962, at which point the Beatles were on the verge of their breakthrough. When they band appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show in early 1964, Lennon was introduced with a caption that read, "Sorry girls, he's married."
Cynthia and John's relationship was famously rocky, and the musician was known for his violent behaviour towards her. They divorced in 1968, with John leaving Cynthia for Yoko Ono.
Cynthia went on to marry three subsequent times, most recently being widowed when her husband Noel Charles died in 2013. She had been portrayed in various Beatles-related films over the years, and she published two books about her life with her famous husband: A Twist of Lennon in 1978 and John in 2005.
