Lord Infamous, a founding member of beloved Memphis rap crew Three 6 Mafia and the more recent Da Mafia 6ix project, has passed away at the age of 40.
The artist was born Ricky Dunigan in 1973, and formed Three 6 Mafia alongside Juicy J and his half-brother DJ Paul in the early '90s. He left the group in 2006 following some time in jail, though he reteamed with DJ Paul on a solo album in 2009.
In addition to a prolific solo career, Infamous also formed Da Mafia 6ix with four other Three 6 Mafia members. The group released their 6ix Commendments mixtape last month, and have been hard at work on a debut album.
Dunigan's cause of death is unknown, though his passing was confirmed by publicist Dove Clark.
