Ronnie James Dio Gives Cancer Update

An update has been released on former Black Sabbath singer Ronnie James Dio and his battle with stomach cancer. In a statement to fans, his wife and manager, Wendy Dio, reports that since his November diagnosis, the legendary rocker has made progress.

She writes: "[He] has had a few hiccups between Christmas and New Year's. [He has] had a blood clot, a trip to the emergency room and a three-day stay at the hospital. Ronnie had his third chemotherapy treatment, and all seems to be going well."

As an aside, despite being picked on by Dio in a number of interviews over the years, his Sabbath predecessor, Ozzy Osbourne, recently told Rolling Stone, "I'm sorry to hear about Ronnie having cancer. It must be really fucking scary for the poor boy."

It's a sweet sentiment, but to get disgustingly technical/geeky, Dio is actually six years older than Osbourne.
