Winnipeg indie-pop ensemble Royal Canoe had previously been planning to drop their debut full-length, Today We're Believers, on June 25 through Nevado/Roll Call. That release date has now been pushed back to September 3, but the band are tiding fans over by releasing a new single and launching pre-orders.
By the sound of things, purchasers won't need to wait until the official in-store release date to receive their copies if they are looking for the album on wax, since a press release notes that "vinyl pre-orders ship immediately." Expect pre-orders to launch via the band's website.
As for the new single, it's called "Bathtubs." Fans may have actually heard this one before, but now it's slated to get an official release on iTunes on June 25. It's a quirkily burbling pop tune with undertones of baroque grandeur, electronic textures and rock muscle. Hear that song below. It originally appeared on the band's 2012 release Extended Play.
So why is the album being delayed? It might have something to do with the fact that the band's tour with Tricky was delayed until October due to his visa problems. Royal Canoe announced earlier this month that they "are sorting out which dates we will be involved with" on the rescheduled trek.
Royal Canoe's currently confirmed schedule is below.
