Pride: The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Plays U2

BY Matt MernaghPublished Aug 1, 1999

On paper, the idea of U2’s music turned into an instrumental orchestra soundtrack is something that many people would love. With U2’s music reeking emotional power, an orchestra should be able to crank it up an emotional notch. “Sunday Bloody Sunday” has a pleasant palatable sound which makes it a laughable farce. People will flee in the other direction screaming, “Oh god just make it stop.” When you shop for your Star Wars toys at Zellers or Wal-Mart, the unpalatable U2 music you hear was created by this orchestra.
