Rumble in Rhodos

Norway is not exactly the first place you think of when it comes to post-punk art rock. These days it’s better known for its flourishing death metal scene (of all things) than its wood. But don’t let that keep you away from Rumble in Rhodos’ debut disc. The suburban Oslo quintet wear their influences on their sleeve as they invoke immediate comparisons to At the Drive-In, the Blood Brothers and Bloc Party. But perhaps a more accurate "for fans of...” description would be Drive Like Jehu with the singer from Snapcase fronting. RIR, however, are not content to just mimic those bands, rather they extract the best elements of each and fuse them together like mad musical metallurgists experimenting to find a new addition for the periodic table. Think of it as math rock you can dance to.
