The Rural Alberta Advantage have described their new album Mended with Gold as being partly inspired by a terrifying cabin experience, but the newly unveiled "On the Rocks" doesn't seem to be encumbered by life-threatening fear.
The song pairs moody keys with a full-bodied beat, as singer Nils Edenloff drawls, "There's nothing going wrong, there's nothing going down." That being said, it's not all sunshine and rainbows, since there seems to be an undercurrent of heartbreak running through this one, with the arrangement building up to a pounding crescendo of bashing drum fills.
Mended with Gold will drop on September 30 through Paper Bag Records.
