Ryan Adams already has a recent solo album and an ongoing series of 7-inches, but the very busy songwriter has added yet another project to his plate: a film soundtrack, which he's making along with composer Theodore Shapiro.
Film Music Reporter reports that Adams and Shapiro are penning the new original music for Danny Collins, an upcoming comedic drama from director Dan Fogelman.
The movie seems like a good fit for Adams, since it has a music-themed plot. It's about a rock star who vows to change his life upon finding a letter written to him by John Lennon. It's been written by Fogelman and will star Al Pacino, Annette Bening, Jennifer Garner, Bobby Cannavale, Josh Peck and Christopher Plummer.
In addition to music from Adams and Shapiro, the flick will appropriately feature songs by Lennon. Danny Collins, which was originally titled Imagine, is set to arrive sometime next year.
This isn't the first time that Adams and Shapiro have worked together. Last year, they co-wrote "Stay Alive" for the soundtrack to The Secret Life of Walter Mitty; that song was performed by José González.
Meanwhile, Adams just announced his 7-inch for "Do You Laugh When You Lie?" It's due out on December 9.
Adams also played Toronto last night (November 12), and you can read Exclaim!'s review over here.
