It goes without saying that Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan are both having a bit of a moment right now. For the latter, her star is rising at such an overwhelming rate that she's admittedly having trouble keeping up. While the former is a Disney kid primed for the spotlight, she's about to release her fifth album and has just joined the Beatles as the only acts in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 to have their first two top three hits on the chart simultaneously (without featured artists).

So again, it's safe to say that both Carpenter and Roan, for all their parallels and differences, are kind of big plot points in the 2024 pop storyline. Perhaps inevitably, then, Carpenter has returned to BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge — after being censored for making a NSFW joke in her improvised "Nonsense" outro last year — and performed a cover of Roan's breakout hit, "Good Luck, Babe!"

Carpenter takes a decidedly more "Please Please Please" than "Espresso" sonic approach to Roan's theatrical WLW anthem, adding some twang and pedal steel to her arrangement. (Spoiler alert: she managed to keep it PG this time.) Check out her Live Lounge performance below.
