Sam Roberts is getting ready to show off a new side to songs from his recent Lo-Fantasy LP for Record Store Day (April 19), but you won't have to wait any longer to hear his Paper Bag Records labelmates Young Galaxy's version of his "Shapeshifters." The band's house-geared remix is available to stream now, ahead of the annual vinyl holiday.
While still presenting a danceable groove, Young Galaxy deliver a much more streamlined version of the track, while also doubling its runtime. Now clocking in over the eight-minute mark, "Shapeshifters" no longer features its shimmering, discofied six-strings, instead favouring '90s-era club keyboards as the focus. Roberts still sings about his alter ego, with those words now taking on a new meaning via the remix.
You'll find the track in the player down below, but can also pick it up on a 12-inch featuring the original Lo-Fantasy song, "We're All in This Together," and a remix from Andrew Weatherall.
