Toronto's neighbour is ready to entertain the whole family this Canada Day. The award-winning Vaughan Celebrates Canada Day celebration is taking place virtually again this year on July 1, and the free, family-friendly event will include a headlining performance by Sam Roberts Band, as well as special guest Jully Black.
Tara Slone — singer, actress and co-host of Rogers Hometown Hockey and host of Sportsnet's Top of Her Game — will emcee the broadcast, which also has appearances by Practically Hip, Tribute to Tragically Hip; Girl Pow-R Group; Bounce Entertainment and more.
Audience members are encouraged to participate in trivia questions that will appear throughout the event — which is being presented by TD and event sponsor Tim Hortons — submitting answers to vaughancelebrates@vaughan.ca. Correct answers will be entered into a draw to win a $50 Tim Hortons gift card.
Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua said in a statement:
On Thursday, July 1, I invite all Vaughan residents to join us in celebrating Canada Day. As we continue practicing physical distancing and following public health guidelines to keep our community safe, it's more important now than ever that we remain socially connected. The City's award-winning Vaughan Celebrates Canada Day event will feature activities, entertainment and live performances for the entire family to enjoy from the comfort of home. Our headline talent this year is JUNO Award winner Sam Roberts Band! Let's celebrate this great nation we proudly call our home together by gathering virtually with our family, friends and neighbours. See you online this Canada Day!
